Viv Albertine

"I find that young girls will come up and say ‘thanks so much, you’re a great influence’ but, and this is one of the reasons I actually ended up deciding to make music again, very often I don’t hear anything that reminds me of The Slits in music they make now,” she says.

“What you have to realise is we were exactly those girls, all the time. All the songs we wrote were about being truthful about the way we lived our lives, and we were just as crazy and just as strict and just as wild in all the other bits of our lives.

“I mean, I couldn’t really play guitar and I didn’t care, I just wanted to make noises and get something truthful and real out there.... See More

“And it was hard work and it wasn’t a lot of fun sometimes, but I don’t see that in a lot of people these days.

“That’s why I’ve got my cape back on, and I’m here to save music.”
